Wallpaper for December- A tribute to Mumbai

This month's wallpaper is a tribute to all those people who lost their lives in the Mumbai terror attack.May their soul rest in peace.

It is a tribute to those injured in the terror attack. Those who still lie in the hospital battling for their lives and peace of mind.

It is a tribute to all the Army personnel, the Marcos and the National Security Guards who fought to save the city and the hostages. They are truly courageous.

It is a tribute to all those selfless civilians who work at the "Taj", "Oberoi and Trident" hotels ,"Leopold " Cafe, "CST" railway station and "Cama" Hospital and those who lived in "Chabad House". They saved a lot of lives, some even lost their own life whilst saving the hostages.

It is a tribute to the survivors. I pray that they feel peaceful and safe when they sleep at night.

It is a tribute to the city of Mumbai, to each and every person living here. We all have been traumatized by this attack.


In the picture above - the background signifies the terror we have faced.
There is a white candle for peace. Peace in the city. Peace for the souls. Peace for the country.
The bird Represents our right to freedom from terror, terrorism and terrorists.

So many lives lost. So many families destroyed. Will we be able to forget horror of these three days?
Mumbai was considered one of the safest cities to venture out in the night. This attack just took that feeling of safety away from me.
Mumbai has a spirit. Mumbai will bounce back. Yes, We can!
However the spirit has taken a major beating this time. :-(
Do we have any other choice? We have to bounce back.
People in Mumbai cannot AFFORD to stay at home. Living in the city is expensive. Those of us who are privileged to live in this City have to work hard so that we have enough left for ourselves after the taxes (we pay 33% of india's taxes, that's 1/3rd of all of India's taxes ) have been deducted from our income.

Does the fact that the city bounces back every time it's been hit entice more terror attacks?

I am a citizen of Mumbai.
My daily prayers now include "God bless the people of Mumbai".

We lost my best friend's mother to cancer this month. :(

Wallpaper for July

" Rainnnn.. Rainnnnn.. Go away.. Come again some other day!" This used to be my mantra during the rains. The gods did listen to me but send the rains back on some other day with a vengence. It rained and how!

So now I just say that the Gods are crying... :D

Hmm.. Sigh! Not that I hate the rains.. It's great that everything gets washed and looks clean as ever. . however traveling is a big disaster!
Muck and dirt everywhere! Gosh.. Just a week of heavy rains completely changes the look of the roads! And then the flooding follows...

Anyways not the rains but the thought of venturing out into the concrete amazon ( so I term it) makes me blue during the monsoons..

I now have niece. Her name is Nysa and she is an angel. Adorable to the core. So when I was not working in May, I was playing the role of a doting aunt. :) She has the most gorgeous smile ever. Hee.. I am in love all over again! :)
And the above wallpaper is a kind of dedication to her.
All of us in my family are like the bee however "Nysa" is like the teddy and is in her own zone right now and her honey is "Sleep". Waiting for my sleeping beauty to grow up a little....

Wallpaper for April

I went for short vacation to Chandigarh. Beautiful city.. So peaceful. Hardly heard any cars honking. And amazing greenery.. Fresh, colourful flowers everywhere one went.. so pretty..
I took some pictures and the one below is my favorite of the lot.. I captioned it " Happy Happy flowers."
And I love it so much that I converted it into my wallpaper for the month. Yellow and orange seem to be the colours of the season for me.. :)

Summer time

Can you feel the heat nowadays?
I quite like it! Everyday is bright sunny day! :)
I have a twelve year old nephew. He wanted to play a colour game. He asked me to list down all the colours that I do not like on a piece of paper.
My list after about fifteen minutes was still blank. I realized that there isn't one colour that I don't like. I love some more than the others but dislike none.
Here is a wallpaper with some summer colours for you. Yellow, Orange, Red and the very bright white. Don't they all look super together? :)

I am not a feminist.
However I strongly believe that power, position and age do not give anyone the rights to undermine another person. Nothing does!
Hmm.. last evening over a long walk at Carter road, me and a couple girl friends shared our collective experiences of certain episodes that we've faced in the past.
I am not saying that girls struggle more than guys because I believe that times have changed and each person gets a chance to prove themselves. So ultimately it is up to them to take it or leave it.
However there are still some people out there who belong to the old school of thoughts. These are the ones who "still" give girls grief. *roll eyes*
Hmm.. So this month I decided to hoot for Girl power..

Not that I am a big fan of skulls anymore. . . Was once upon a time.. Had a huge collection of everything skull like.. Thankfully for my parents I have gotten over that phase and moved over to much more pleasant looking things.. say like butterflies.. :P
Some people argue that butterflies are the most done thing now.. But hey .. I like them!
Anyways.. back to the skull. So someone asked me to make a tattoo design for him.. and he wanted skulls on his arms..

Wallpaper for feb

A little late than never I say!
Been too caught with work to do anything for pleasure..
Anyways, last night was interesting. . .
I have noticed a strange phenomenon around Valentines day.. I get flooded with a lot of calls from my girlfriends screaming for help!
Valentines just around the corner.. Help! Help! I don't know what to do.. I want to MAKE something for him.. Help! Help!
Note the 'make' in capitals!
Well my girlfriends mostly consist of people who run away from a paint brush! :)
So its a lot of fun watching them struggle MAKING stuff for their boyfriends.. ( I am not being sadistic! I swear its funny! )
So every valentines there are a lot of creative sessions in my house.
How to make valentine cards.. How to paint T-Shirts.. How to paint Mugs.. How to bake cakes.. How to make chocolate bouquets.. Etc.. Etc.. Etc!!
Well so I not only come up ideas for them.. I teach them how to implement the Ideas and finally land up doing a lot touch ups myself...
Last night I had a how to paint T-shirts session.. We painted two t-Shirts in a row..
Hmm.. Ain't I the best friend ever? ;)
Me thinks all these guys should give me a Valentines gift instead! I work so hard at making theirs! :p
Anyways.. It inspired me to make a wallpaper for February..
So here goes.. Enjoy!

Hey! I got a new treat for you and me this year.
This year I am going to do a wallpaper for each month with the dates on it!
Why you ask me? Well I keep forgetting dates, I am in front of my computer for the larger part of the day and I keep my desktop clean!!
So now when I want to know the date all I have to do is windows+D!!
Yaaay!! :P
However the one on my desktop has the special dates underlined (this will save my ear from all the screams it hears from all my friends) ;)
